Admiral came to us from Iowa during the recent floods. This disaster actually improved his life, as he was badly in need of rescue long before the waters came. Admiral lived in a filthy horse trailer most his young life .His fur was badly matted and covered in feces. And then help came! Now he is dry, clean and has a name. Admiral needs a little time to catch up with all that has happened recently, and he is shy, If you would like more information about Admiral, or would like to schedule a time to meet him, please contact us at 920-293-8885 or wooflodge@yahoo.com. Is there anything cuter than a Pyr puppy? Jonah sets the bar pretty high in the cuteness department! This healthy five-month old pup recently traveled to us from Iowa with the help of some wonderful Pyr people. He is a little timid at first, as a great deal has happened in his young life. He gets past it quite quickly, though, and warms up to his visitors. Jonah gets along well with other dogs and is friendly to cats. He walks fairly well on a leash. He has learned some basic commands .What he really needs now is a family to love him. If you would like more information about Jonah, or would like to schedule a time to meet him, please contact us at 920-293-8885 or wooflodge@yahoo.com. Five-year old Patch came into rescue because his family wanted what was best for him. They made the terribly difficult decision that he deserved more than they could give. Patch is a great dog! He is healthy, house-trained, and can be left alone for a reasonable period of time without any incidents. Patch gets along with other dogs mostly his own size but he sees no need for cats! Patch gets anxious if things get too chaotic, so a home without small children may be best. If you would like more information about Patch, or would like to schedule a time to meet him, please contact us at 920-293-8885 or wooflodge@yahoo.com. Meet 18-month old Fitz Bowser! This young guy was tearfully surrendered by his owner because Fitz Bowser and the owner's other dog didn't get along well. He is healthy and likely to be a big boy once full grown. Fitz is playful, lovable, and walks well on a leash. He is also crate trained! We have been introducing him slowly to other dogs and putting him in new situations to see how he will react. He has done well, although he can get protective of his food with other dogs - not humans. Fitz can spend time walking or being with other dogs where food is not involved, but should be the only dog in his new home. If you would like more information about Fitz Bowser, or would like to schedule a time to meet him, please contact us at 920-293-8885 or wooflodge@yahoo.com. Update on Josie. What a difference! Josie came to us without much socialization as a pup. She didn't have a very good idea of how she was supposed to behave in new situations and didn't always make the best choices. She reacted poorly to other dogs. And now.... she can take walks with other dogs and is learning to play off lead! She used to jump and get overly excited when meeting people. And now... she is learning to calm down and can sit/stay on command. She used used to try to walk herself by grabbing the handle of the leash. And now... she knows that we frown on that behavior. What an improvement!!! Josie's new owner will need to have patience, handling skills and the time to continue Josie's education. Josie is good with cats and is both house-trained and crate-trained. She is sensitive to grooming, but is also improving in this area. A home without small children would be best as she tries to protectively herd them around. We are so proud of Josie and the progress that she has made during her time here! One-year old Josie was recently surrendered by her owner. Josie is a Pyr mix, looking a whole lot more like a Golden Retriever than a Pyr! Josie is healthy, house trained, and has been doing well on a leash. She hasn’t had much experience with the world at large, and isn’t sure what new people are all about. We’re working on introductions because strangers and fast movements are stressful to her. We are also teaching Josie how to play more gently with others, as she gets pretty rough at times. She just doesn’t know what to do with herself! Josie likes children, but shouldn’t be in a home with little ones. She will require a securely fenced yard. If you would like more information about Josie, or would like to schedule a time to meet her, please contact us at 920-293-8885 or wooflodge@yahoo.com. A fenced yard is usually required to adopt a dog from GPRW. All of our dogs are current on vaccinations and are spayed or neutered.
