Anna is a beautiful 9-year-old girl (almost 10!) who has shown more resilience and grace than most of us could ever imagine.
Throughout her life, Anna was bred continuously from the time she was able to conceive until just this past March — never given a break, never given the chance to simply be loved.
When Anna came into our care she was Lyme positive, had worms, and carried a large benign tumor. She faced every challenge head on — treatment for Lyme disease, deworming, spay surgery, and tumor removal. When she developed a post-surgical abscess, she fought through that too. 💪
But here is what defines Anna — not her past, not her health battles, but her spirit. Anna is one of the sweetest souls you will ever meet. She loves attention, cherishes her meals, and walks with the energy of a dog half her age.

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Wisconsin, Inc. has been giving these gentle giants a second chance since 2007 — providing care, patience, and love until the right family finds them. And when that moment happens, when a frightened dog finally feels safe in someone’s arms for the first time — there is nothing like it in the world.

In many respects, the defining characteristics of the Great Pyrenees can be seen as either positive or negative attributes, depending on your own point of view. One person sees a beautiful, loyal, intelligent, independent, engaged dog, while another sees a huge, shedding, stubborn, noisy liability. Obviously, a Great Pyrenees is not for everyone.
